CareSource enrollments increase during special open enrollments


Indianapolis, IND., May 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit healthcare plan, has registered more than 12,282 registrations to its Insurance Marketplace since the registration period opened at the pandemic on February 15. open, 86% of those who registered in Indiana chose CareSource. Initially, the additional open registration period was supposed to end on May 15, but has since been extended to August 15. CareSource expects approximately 15,000 Hoosiers in total to have registered by the end of the period.

The Biden administration also expanded premium tax credits to make coverage more affordable. The Advance Premium Tax Credit (APTC) helps people enroll by reducing monthly premium payments. This tax credit, along with CareSource offering the state’s lowest cost premium, likely resulted in the high number of registrations.
