Leicester City saw more injury issues when Harvey Barnes had to be on a stretcher with a knee injury in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal Last weekend. Leicester now has nine players on the sidelines, thethe most common in the Premier League.
As much as this is bad news for Leicester fans, it is also bad news for FPL managers who have Barnes on their squad. 17.9% of managers have it and more than 20,000 people have transferred it to their teams in GW26.
The England international had accumulated 25 FPL points in his last two matches before suffering an injury, score twice and assist twice to earn two double-digit FPL point totals.
However, the latest reports suggest it could be out for the next six weeks, that’s why we found three potential replacements for the injured midfielder to consider ahead of the GW27 deadline …
Gareth Bale – Tottenham Hotspur (£ 9.3million)
Tottenham winger on loan Gareth Bale has been sensational in recent games and is starting to look like the Gareth Bale we’ve grown used to over the years. When the Welshman is in good shape nothing stops him and it looks like he could be a great addition for your FPL squad this week, his recent form is quite acceptable.
Bale put on a man of the match performance against Burnley last weekend, scoring two goals and helping another. He now has four goals and three assists in their last four games in all competitions, also impressive in their Europa League.
He secured his first start for Spurs in the league since GW21 and is expected to retain his spot against Crystal Palace (H) on Sunday, while matches against Arsenal (A), Aston Villa (A) and Newcastle (A) will all be good opportunities for Bale to further reward its FPL owners.
Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City (£ 8.1million)
Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been in unstoppable form in recent weeks and has become one of City’s most influential players. The 30-year-old winger has started City’s last four Premier League games and produced offensive returns in each.
Mahrez now has two goals and three assists in his last four appearances, including winning 17 points in DGW26. City are flying right now, and manager Pep Guardiola is reaping the rewards by launching Mahrez every week.
The City midfielder is only 3.5% of managers and will be an excellent replacement for injured Harvey Barnes. City face another double week of play in GW27, playing Man United (H) and Southampton (H).
They then travel to relegation-threatened Fulham (A) which means there are plenty of games for Mahrez to continue his good form.
Jesse Lingard – West Ham United (£ 6.0million)
Loan midfielder Jesse Lingard has been a revelation at West Ham since joining in late January. He has started each of their last five Premier League games, score three times and assist twice to help the Hammers in fourth place.
He has two double-digit point totals and has racked up 39 FPL points in his last five games. Since joining he has been at the heart of all the action and he is relied on heavily to create chances and influence the game.
For £ 6.0million Lingard could be a good cheap alternative for Harvey Barnes (£ 6.9million) saving you money. West Ham play Leeds (H) in GW27, a team that has struggled defensively this season.
They are also featured in GW29, when only eight teams are playing, which means you will get an advantage with Lingard on your team.
