No Way Home actress opens up about this fun Spider-Man Easter egg, even though she didn’t see it coming

Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home await.

Spider-Man: No Path Home was more than fair an incredible and emotional capper at Marvel and Sony studios Back home trilogy – it was also a love letter to the story of the iconic character. As a result, it was chock full of breathtaking scenes and sweet Easter eggs that savvy superhero viewers may have grabbed. One of the best nods ever paid tribute to Spidey co-creator Stan Lee. But another arrived at the start of the film and was delivered by Angourie Rice’s Betty Brant. And it turns out Rice didn’t see the funny reference coming.

Midtown High’s star reporter Betty Brant got a reduced role in the highly anticipated trio. The character appears briefly at the opening of the film when Peter Parker, who has been introduced as a superhero, makes his high-profile return to school. Brant, now an intern for The Daily Bugle, reports the event and, on the show, wished Parker good luck by saying, “Go get them tigers.” Fans probably recognize this as the famous comic book line Mary Jane used to say to Peter. Although she missed it the first time around, Angourie Rice really appreciated the nod:

No, I didn’t get it, but I love it! There are always so many Easter Eggs, and sometimes I miss them until I see the movie in theaters. And then I’m like ‘Ohh! I see what they did there. ‘

Most would agree with the star’s feelings for THRbecause Easter eggs can sometimes be difficult to catch. However, when you see the link, it’s a very satisfying experience. This particular reference is quite special, and you can’t help but appreciate the fact that the creatives were able to incorporate it.

Although its overall role in the Spider Man the trilogy was small, Betty Brant was relatively delicious every time she appeared on screen. Angourie Rice also seemed to enjoy her time working on the franchise, even in the middle the intense secret that always surrounds him. In the same interview, she noted this while explaining the reason for her reduced presence in No way home:

Yes, the pandemic has disrupted a lot of things and affected everyone. And that also affected the pre-production of Spider-Man and all the movies in the making, after 2020. So it was that “We want Betty to be there” thing, and I wanted to be there, of course. It’s been a big part of my life, and I really wanted to be a part of it. So they were like, “We want you to be a part of it too”, but obviously it’s difficult with travel. And, of course, with the story centering around Peter’s larger-scale journey, they tackle a lot of big existential questions about what it means to be a hero. So it was really fun coming in, doing my part, and working with people I know and love to work with. And then to see it on the big screen, it’s this huge emotional and dramatic blockbuster.

Despite this brief appearance, the Easttown mare the star seems satisfied with what she was able to do. And kudos to the producers for doing what they could to get it back for the film. Additionally, the star actually reprized her role for some Daily Bugle-centric TikTok videos from the perspective of No way homethe Liberation.

The chances of seeing the character again seem a bit slim, especially considering where the end leaves Peter Parker. However, it certainly wouldn’t be impossible for her to show up. in the future of spidey. If she does, she could appear as a full-time employee of the Bugle, which could easily position her to deliver another or two smart Easter eggs.
