Opus One Solutions’ GridOS® platform to prepare Singapore for a renewable energy future for a low carbon economy

TORONTO, April 21, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Opus One Solutions, a leading software provider in the Distributed Energy Resources (DER), Planning, Management and Transactive / Flexibility Energy markets, and a Global Cleantech 100 company, was hired by SP Group (SP) to implement its GridOS® software to optimize SP’s existing distributed energy in real time and integrate more renewable energy into the grid.

To tackle climate change and growing demand for electricity, Singapore is working to build a more sustainable, reliable and affordable energy supply, with the country planning to deploy at least two peak gigawatts of solar power here. 2030 and 200 megawatts of energy storage beyond 2025. Building As part of the company’s existing smart grid initiative, Opus One and SP will undertake a proof-of-concept exercise in which the platform Opus One’s GridOS DER management system will be deployed to enhance the DER capabilities of a selected circuit.

Opus One will use its GridOS software to simulate scenarios in the future so that users understand the effects of more DER on the distribution system and how to improve grid reliability in the scenarios. Some specific applications that will be tested with the software solution include analyzing network constraints, calculating hosting capacity for DER connections, and managing DER dispatch with network constraints. Through the proof-of-concept exercise, Opus One hopes the results will help SP prepare Singapore for a low-carbon energy future.

“We are delighted to be working with SP to help their country ease the transition to more renewable energy and a low-carbon economy,” said Hari Suthan, Head of Strategic Growth at Opus One Solutions. “By combining the planning and real-time operational capabilities of our GridOS software, we believe that SP will be able to optimize its current distributed energy assets while establishing an action plan for even more distributed energy in its grid at the future.”

Over the past few years, Opus One has focused on significant international expansion in the global market, including Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Asia and Oceania, to better serve customers public services by offering innovative approaches to planning, systems and market operations. Opus One is excited to be working now with SP to help the country transition its energy grids to an electric future by taking them one step closer to helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero.

“Canada is home to innovative clean technology small and medium-sized enterprises that are making their mark around the world,” said the Honorable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, Canada. “We know that the economy and the environment go hand in hand. As we continue to fight climate change while generating economic growth and creating jobs, we congratulate Opus One Solutions for bringing its clean energy solutions made in Canada to Singapore and around the world.

As a small, low-lying city-state with one of the most open economies in the world, Singapore is particularly vulnerable to the impact of climate change and is currently working on a $ 72 billion plan to protect the city from harsh weather conditions. extreme temperatures and flooding.1. Singapore launched its Climate Action Plan in July 2016, which provides details of their strategies for adapting to the impact of climate change by improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions from generations of electricity , developing cutting-edge low-carbon technologies and working collectively with government agencies and businesses. , communities and individuals2. Opus One looks forward to enabling another overseas utility that is working on its country’s climate action plan to reduce carbon emissions through cutting-edge energy-efficient solutions.
