The price of a barrier for 2021 palladium coin sales?

The U.S. Mint’s September 2 open sales pace for American Eagle Proof 2021-W palladium coins suggests some resistance from buyers at the set price of $ 3,350 for the coin, based on comments made online .

Unlike other recent numismatic products from the US Mint, the coin did not sell out immediately, despite its limited edition of 12,000 coins. The Mint has imposed an initial household order limit for one coin.

Much of the coin’s online discussion centered around pricing, which was determined the day before sales began; the print run of the coin; and if there was any chance he could flip the coin for a quick profit.

The US Mint issued the American Eagle palladium coin in a bullion version in 2017 (mintage 15,000; it was sold to authorized buyers with a palladium price of $ 917), a Proof version in 2018 (mintage 15,000 ; sold out; original price $ 1,387.50); a Reverse Proof version in 2019 (30,000 prints; current sales of 18,528; original price of $ 1,987.50); an uncirculated version with a matte finish in 2020 (limited edition of 10,000; 9,384 were sold until August 29, 2021; original price $ 3,000, and it remains available for purchase from the Mint).

The obverse of the 10005-ounce .9995 fine palladium coin reproduces the design of the obverse by high-relief sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the Winged Liberty Head dime introduced in 1916.

The high relief reverse illustrates Weinman’s eagle design rendered in 1906 for the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal, first awarded in 1907.
